History of Graphics Unlimited

Graphics Unlimited was started in a one car garage in 1965 by the present owner.  We started with a Chief 15, one
stripping table and a homemade plate maker. Our first expansion was to trade in the 15” Chief for a 22” Chief, buy a
vertical camera and move into a two car garage.  Six months running a 22” Chief was enough for anyone, so we
traded it in for a 24” Solna Press.  Within the next two years, we traded in the 24” Solna Press for a 1-color 36”
Miehle Press, bought a 17” Multi, a 30” Challenge Paper Cutter, a 22” Baum Folder and built a two car garage addition
onto the garage and rented the neighbors garage. In December of 1974, we bought a building in Gardena on
Crenshaw Boulevard.  The building was 4,000 square feet and too large for us at the time, so we rented half of the
building to a tropical fish store.  By 1977, we added a computer estimating system, a 29” Miehle Press, and a larger
paper cutter.  Needing the extra room, we took over the fish store.  As the business grew, we traded the 29” Miehle
Press for a 36” Heidelberg, 1-color press, the 36” Miehle Press for a 2-color 36” Heidelberg, the 17” Multi for a new
17” Chief 2-color, and added 1,000 square feet of warehouse space to the back of the building.  We also upgraded
our preparation department with a new camera and film processor.  In January of 1987, the 36” Heidelberg was
replaced with a 40” Heidelberg 2-color press.  In October of 1989, we replaced the Heidelberg 2-color with a new 4-
color 26” Komori Lithrone.  Because we were out of room, we started looking for a larger building and in August of
1991, we moved into a new 10,500 square foot building in Temecula, California. In 1992, after getting moved into our
new building, we purchased an Agfa 9836 Imagesetter, a Scitex Color Scanner, and three Macintosh 950’s.  We are
now in the Desktop Publishing business and with the Scitex Scanner we are in the color separation business as
well.  In 1993, we purchased a new 26x40 MBO Folder.  In 1994, we sold our Heidelberg 2-color press and bought a
28x40 Heidelberg 4-color speedmaster with a perfecting unit on it.  In 1995, we bought an Omega-2 four pocket plus
cover feeder stitcher/trimmer. In 2003 we upgraded our pre-press department by adding a PlateRite 8000 II direct to
plate imagesetter, an Epson 9600 digital proofer and up to date Macintosh computers and software to keep up with
the ever growing demand for great quality in a timely manner. We have now eliminated the need for film and are
completely Direct to Plate. We are known as a company that has GOOD SERVICE, GOOD QUALITY AND FAIR
PRICES.  Let us help you with your project.
