FileZilla
FileZilla is a free FTP tool created for Windows computers. To get started using FileZilla to transfer files, you'll need to:
1) Download a copy of FileZilla to your computer.
2) Install FileZilla.
3) Enter the FTP settings.
4) Connect to the FTP site.
1. Download a copy of FileZilla to your computer.
Visit the FileZilla home page and click the "Download" link. On the download page, click the "Download" link next to the
package called "FileZilla."
If you are presented with a choice of FileZilla files to download, click the highest-number file that ends in "_setup.exe."
You'll then be asked to select a mirror, or a computer from which to download the installation file. Click the "Download"
link next to any of these locations to begin downloading FileZilla.
When the download begins, you'll be asked to save the installation file to your computer. Save the file anywhere you
like — just be sure to make a note of where you saved it!
2. Install FileZilla.
The file you downloaded in step 1 is called FileZilla_[some number]_setup.exe. Find that file on your computer now and
click on it twice quickly to open it and begin installation.
Follow the installation instructions: You'll be asked to agree to a FileZilla's general public license, then choose options
and a location for your FileZilla files. We recommend accepting the default suggestions on each screen except "General
settings." Here, if other people have access to your computer, you may want to choose the secure options "use secure
mode" and "use registry" (just click the button next to each option to select it).
When you have completed the last step, click the "Install" button to install FileZilla on your computer.
3. Enter the FTP settings.
Open FileZilla by clicking twice on the FileZilla image on your computer's desktop.
(Can't find the image? Click your computer's "Start" menu, choose "Programs," then the "FileZilla" folder, then "FileZilla.")
To start using FileZilla with your Web Hosting account, you must enter the FTP settings listed below. Enter your settings
near the top of the FileZilla window.
In the "Address" field enter: ftp.gotographicsunlimited.com
In the "User" field, enter: ftp@gotographicsunlimited.com
In the "Password" field enter: ftp
4. Connect to the FTP site.
When you're finished entering your settings, connect to the FTP site by clicking the "Quickconnect" button in your
FileZilla toolbar.
When you successfully connect, you'll see a note in the status area at the top of your screen indicating that you are
connected. The files and folders on your own computer will appear in the "Local Site" pane on the left side of your
screen. The FTP Site files and folders will appear in the "Remote Site" pane on the right.
You can now transfer files and folders between your remote and local sites by dragging them from one pane to another!
Note: Please make sure the file name is short without using spaces or numbers (Example: myfile.zip)
